Welcome to Our Youth Page!

Sask Paint Horse Youth page

Well its over for another year, and what an awesome year it was. I am really proud of all of our youth this year, an enthusiastic group to have fun with. We had great attendance at the show, and lots who participated in the youth activities at the show in Saskatoon. What also made me proud is the youth who could not participate in some of events came to let me know they were not going to make it. I had fun again this show, and am working on new stuff for next year. At the Saskatoon show I divided the youth into two teams for the weekend. This show started with the Ice Cream Sundae race, wish I had my camera but was to busy laughing to take many pictures. I think it went well and will try doing that again. Thank you to our sponsor Wal-Mart for all the ice cream and toppings. The youth then worked on a team name and team posters at the youth table after we held our first scavenger hunt of the weekend. The youth table was full of puzzles, games and puzzles to keep everyone busy between classes. A great place to meet and visit at as well. Saturday we met at noon for our second scavenger hunt with a twist. The teams had to work together to make a stick horse, design a reining pattern and vote a member of their team to ride the pattern that evening. Two of the nicest stick horses showed up Saturday evening to ride some awesome patterns, while team members displayed their team posters and cheered them on. This was followed by our youth beating up a bay horse piñata to get loads of candy to give them energy to make the next day. We stabled the stick horses near the silent auction table for the night so everyone could see them. Sunday we all met for some prizes and to pass out what was left of the candy. Prizes were also presented to our 3 members who participated in the stall decoration contest. It was a wet cold weekend, but you could not tell it inside the barn with all the happy smiling faces. I guess candy will do that to you. Keep watching our facebook pages over the winter; add photos or comments to help stop me from my dumb jokes I post. Also send me ideas of what you would like to see next year. Thank you to all who helped out with the youth this show; I appreciate the help and ideas. God only knows were I would have hung the piñata with out good advice. Tammie Cooper Youth Director sfcooper@sasktel.net
