Welcome to Our Youth Page!

Sask Paint Horse Youth page

June newsletter

It has been one week since our Lloydminster spring show as I write Junes newsletter. I am still tired from all the running around at the show, but boy what a show! Our numbers are up, and we had so many new exhibitors with great horses. I just wish I had time to talk and welcome you personally, but we all know how fast the weekend went. I remember our first breed show just 4 short years ago. Audra and I were excited and scared all at the same time. The thing that impressed me and made us come back is the great group of people who own and show paint horses but also work so hard putting on these shows. I hope you all had a great first time, feel free to contact any of us at any time at the shows or check our membership page, you can find our names and emails there.

I was so excited about our youth numbers, another fact when we started and went to our first show the 13 and under only had 2 showing, this year our numbers were 15 plus. I am also the Youth Director and with the huge numbers did not want to overwhelm anyone with the job of showing your horses plus attending to much extra stuff, but I hope all who attended the Sundae race did not eat too much, and that you enjoyed all the extra’s to do when not in the show ring. If you have any ideas of fun things to do next show, let me know, we also have a Saskatchewan Paint Horse Youth facebook page you can join to get updates and send ideas.

I must say a HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who helped out this weekend. Like Ronni, I believe that many hands make little work and it is true. For those of you who have been involved in putting on a show this size know the number of hours it takes and how busy you are at show time. The success not only lies on the show committee back but the people who step forward to help take some of the load off and help out were they can. I think the volunteers and show committee deserve a lot of recognition for a job well done. Keep an eye on the web site, the results from the show will be posted as soon as they are in, till then we all look forward to the upcoming summer of shows. Open, breed or 4-H shows, have a great summer showing, if you see me on the show trail say Hi, for all our youth I would like to remind you of the Hi Point Paint Horse award that will be given out at the Youth Equestrian Summer Tournament (formally the Youth Equestrian Summer Games) this year held in Moose Jaw August 20th to 22nd. After seeing what a great group of youth horses we had at Lloydminster, you all should come and color the ring in Moosejaw. If you have any questions about YEST you can contact me, I would be happy to help and encourage you to come. With that I will leave you with some information on the Harvest of Colours show, here is what Ronni posted in the May newsletter. Don’t forget that there will be a $1000.00 draw at our Harvest of Colours show in Saskatoon, to be held September 25 and 26, 2010. You will receive a chance to win with each horse you show, so make room in that trailer. I would suggest people put their minds to booking stalls for the Harvest of Colours as early as possible. We have had a great response for stall bookings for our Lloydminster show. So book early and make sure you aren’t left out of the experience.

Our Harvest of Colours Show will have many exciting events and is a great show for all levels of exhibitors. For our trainers and experienced show exhibitors, we will again offer various futurities (don’t forget – if you can help out with sponsoring added money, please contact any SPHC director). For our ‘nervous novice’ or new exhibitors, we offer a wide range of classes that will suit your level and pride ourselves on providing a show atmosphere that will ensure you are as hooked on showing paint horses as we are. Never hesitate to contact any director with questions you may have – if the director you call doesn’t know the answer he/she will point you in the right direction.

Below we have included some great photos of our youth, including newcomers to the show circuit! Great Job everyone!
