Saskatchewan Paint Horse Club Newsletter

It is that time of year again, I hope everyone is having a successful foaling season and the color gods are being nice to you. This year is going to be the year for color as the last two years have been pretty solid, for us anyway. The new SPHC executive has been busy preparing for the 2009 season.

There are some new and exciting changes to our show schedule. Due to lack of participation our Paint by Numbers (aka 70/30) Futurity and our Select Futurities have been discontinued. (The 2009 Paint by Numbers class will run as usual, as these horses were nominated in 2007, at our Harvest of Colors Show, however this will be the last year this class will run.) Don’t despair as we are still going to be offering open weanling futurities, at our Harvest of Colors show Oct. 3-4, along with all of our regular futurity classes. Remember-$500 will be added to all futurities!!

SPHC Lloydminster Spring show will be held May 16-17 at the Lloydminster Exhibition Center. Stalls need to be booked by May 1. NEW this year to our spring show is a 3yr old Western Pleasure Futurity. The open, combined gender Yearling Halter Jackpot will be on the roster again along with the Special Two Year Old Futurity. The “Longe Line Under Saddle” class will be the only class for the two year olds in Lloyd., the “Halter” and “Western Pleasure” classes will run at the Harvest of Colors Show on Oct.3-4. NEW this year- $500 added to all three futurities. Special thanks to our Past President-Ronni Nordal for sponsoring the Special Two Year Old Futurity. The SPHC will be introducing new “Nervous Novice” jackpot classes for green or first time exhibitors. PAC approval has been applied for. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us out at the show with ring stewarding, gate, trail set up and various other little jobs, if you are planning to be at the show and have an hour or two to spare, please contact either Trena Badinski or Nicole Gauthier to volunteer. Please see our web site for the SPHC Lloydminster Spring Show entry forms and stall forms or feel free to contact one of our board members.

New sponsorship packages are available for our supporters. Please contact one of our Advertising Committee members: Nicole Gauthier (olimpicool@hotmail.com ), Shannon Zavaduk (szavaduk@sasktel.net) or Tracey Robinson (tdrobinson@sasktel.net) for your package and opportunities to sponsor.

Due to the overwhelming success as a fund raiser for the club at the Harvest of Colors Show, we will be holding a silent auction table at the Lloyd. Spring Show and are looking for donations. Idea's of what we will accept is any sponsorship of products or services you sell, your employer sells or ask businesses you deal with. Maybe you have new items that you do not need, horse related or not it all adds up to help keep our club running. When asking for sponsorship please let them know that all sponsors of silent auction items are added to our Sponsorship page. Contact Tammie Cooper (sfcooper@sasktel.net ) with any questions or sponsorship.

You can now advertise your stallion on our Stallion Page of our web site for just $50/year. Be sure to check it out. See you all in Lloyd.
