2008
SPHC Raffle Winner

Diesel
my lucky paint horse,
I have been going to the Agribition since I can remember. Always
buying tickets on the raffle horses crossing my fingers hoping
I would win one, we lived in the city then. This year we got a
farm. I knew I would win this year, my parents always tell me
to be positive and I was positive that I would win him, I liked
him the most out of all the raffle horses. As soon as I saw Diesel
I liked him. I thought he was beautiful and a sweetie. Every day
that I was at the Agribition I always went straight to see Diesel
we bought quite a few tickets including the last 6. I spent as
much time with him as I could. The people that worked at the Sask.
Paint Horse booth Karen, Patti and Tammie were very very nice
and supportive.
Saturday morning the day of the draw I was at the Agribition watching
the stock dogs of course sometime around 7:30 i went to go see
Diesel. I came back a little later to come see him but he wasn't
in his stall. So i walked around the barn and in the arena I saw
Tammie working with Diesel Tammie called me over and asked if
I wanted to lead him around of course I said "YES!"
I ran around with him for a bit and we tried to lead him back
to his stall he spooked, of course I don't blame him the Agribition
is a pretty scary place for a yearling. We got him back and I
groomed him, from there on I knew he was going to be mine, I just
knew it.
On Saturday night, my dad and I waited by the booth for about
a 30 minutes waiting for the draw. When it very was time for the
draw I was excited, I knew he would be my horse. They mixed the
tickets good, Patti pulled a ticket as she was trying to pronounce
my last name, I was praying I wanted to win the horse so bad!
When she finally got it "Megan Charnock" I was shocked.
"That's ME!" Everyone was giving me hugs and congratulating
me. But I just wanted to go see Diesel. I went in his stall and
was petting him when this little boy came and asked if he could
pet my horse. I invited him in and the boy just loved Diesel,
Diesel lowered his head so the little boy could reach him, the
boy was not even 2 years old yet. When he said "Thank you
I like your horsie" My heart melted Diesel was actually mine.
The boy left Diesel's stall, Diesel was tired he put his head
on my shoulder and just rested it there for a minute or two. He
was
my horse actually MY HORSE! You could not wipe the smile off my
face. I was just so happy. Everyone being very supportive helped
ALOT no one had hard feelings which was awesome. Everyone was
just so nice. Including the lady that had a Tack Store set up
beside Diesels stall, came over and gave me these really pretty
Pegasus Air Boots that are black and pink and said over and over
again how happy she was that I won Diesel. I couldn't believe
how nice everyone was.
I will definitely be joining the Saskatchewan Paint Horse Association
A.S.A.P.!!!!
Thank you for everything,
~Megan
